The advantage of learning how to sketch, is that finally, I can now own the beautiful photographs that I see in the internet. This is my first attempt on female figure sketching applying the hatching, cross-hatching techniques.
My workflow:
- draw initial outline
- scan
- open both the outline and original picture in photoshop
- align both outlines and original picture using layers, with the outline set to 50% transparency.
- repeat process until proportion is met.
- start sketching, use Picasa to zoom the details of the original photo for accurate rendering.
- use wacom graphic tablet and photoshop for final retouches (remove and add minute details which are impossible to do using the eraser and pencils).

By the way, for the idiots mentally-challenged among you who are wondering how we get those funky looking avatars, register your email at http://www.gravatar.com and then use the same email when you sign here.
